The James Campbell Signature Concerto Mallet models were designed by James Campbell, professor of music and director of percussion studies at the University of Kentucky, and principal percussionist with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra.

The IP-JC2 is constructed of laminated birch and is a larger, or maestoso, version of the IP-JC model. It features an elongated teardrop tip and a very long taper. It also tapers slightly from the tip of the stick to the shoulder, from a thickness of 0.680″ to 0.645″.
