The S-Hoop™ is a new patented drum hoop designed by Safehoop Company President and Founder Rick Barrickman. Shortly after, he was granted a patent for the design, and The Safehoop Company was formed. The S-Hoop offers many advantages to every drummer, regardless of skill level. The S-Hoop is similar to a triple-flanged hoop, except it has a different design.

This new design resulted in an overlapping rim that turns inward and bevels toward the drumhead, covering the rim of the bearing and allowing plenty of room for different tuning tensions. This additional steel density made the hoop stiffer like a die-cast hoop, giving it the consistent tuning characteristics of a die-cast hoop. This new design also gives the S-Hoop a softer playing surface for rim shots and sidesticks, creating less impact on the hands and wrist. The patented design allows the toms to sing more and gives the snare drum a thicker sound than the previous design hoops. We like to call it the best of both worlds because it incorporates all the features of a die-cast hoop and a triple-flanged hoop, all in one. People will find the S-Hoop to be a truly unique product.
