The V-20 is a general-purpose mallet, perfect for any situation. It’s the first choice of mallet that will cover almost every performance situation, IF your overall sound idea is clear but never on the hard side of the spectrum. This is what most percussionists would consider a medium-hard mallet; we prefer to call it a general-purpose model. It works across the entire instrument with almost no contact noise and will deliver a clear, classic sound. We think it will be a very refreshing choice for jazz percussionists. The mallet is the best choice for pieces in the style of “Blues for Gilbert” or “Suomineito” (in combination with the SV-10 on bass) and is also very good for some contemporary-style pieces by modern composers. You’ll also be amazed at how well this mallet performs on marimba. For all pieces using marimba/vibraphone in an ensemble, the SV-20 is the number one choice. The head shape and size come from a marimba background… wrapped with virtually indestructible synthetic blend yarn.

Combinations:
Use it alone, as a set of four SV-20s, or in combination with an SV-10 as a bass stick, but also as a set of three SV-20s with a TOP SV-30, which will deliver the upper register and really clear melodies. If you’re comfortable with three mallets with different vibrations, try an SV-10, two SV-20s in the middle, and an SV-30 on top.
