About the editor
John Urness has been Principal Trumpet of the Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México since 1997, performing many thousands of concerts in México City area and on tour on five continents. His varied performing career has included appearances with Andrea Bocelli, Peter Gabriel, Sigur Ros, Danny Elfman, Sarah Brightman, Doc Severinsen, SepticFlesh, Alondra de la Parra, Jose Carreras, Javier Camarena, Juan Diego Flores, Mocedades, Yuja Wang, Gustavo Cerati, the Israel Philharmonic, the National Ballet of Ukraine, the Royal Ballet of London, and the Ten Tenors. He has performed for Sophia Loren, Pope Francis, and for four recent Presidents of México (Zedillo, Fox, Calderon, and Peña Nieto). Mr. Urness is an avid educator, having taught hundreds of trumpet and brass students, and is currently on the faculty of the Panamerican University in México City and the UAEMEX in Toluca, México.
