The SoftRing is a ring mute that attaches to rim of the trumpet’s bell, dampening its
vibrations to create a soft, mellow tone. Made from soft, flexible neoprene, it will not
damage the bell and can easily be stored flat or folded up.
The SoftRing works beautifully any time you want to take some of the brilliance out of
the trumpet’s sound, making it a great choice for soft, lyrical passages and providing a
great alternative to a cloth bag or flugelhorn. It can also be combined with other mutes,
providing a wide variety of interesting timbres for various playing situations.
The standard trumpet mute fits 4 7/8″ diameter bells, the standard piccolo mute fits 4″
diameter bells, and the standard flugelhorn mute fits 6″ diameter bells. Since the mute
has a bit of stretch it can fit slightly larger or smaller bells, and custom mutes can easily
made to accommodate your instrument at no extra cost.
